The Jordanstown campus is located just seven miles north of Belfast on the shore of Belfast Lough and is a mix of original and modern buildings overlooking the Belfast Hills, Mourne Mountains and Co. Down.
As the campus is close to the city it is popular with students.
There is excellent rail, bus, taxi links, and even a national cycle path that will take you straight into Belfast.
Below is some important and useful information about Dalriada Student Village.
Banking
Most UK banks and building societies are located in Belfast city centre.
An ATM is located in the main campus building.
Bicycles
Bicycles are not allowed in the flats. Bicycle racks are located in the village, bicycles are placed at the residents own risk.
Car Parking
Car Parking is provided on a first come first served basis, parking charges apply.
Cleaning
You are responsible for cleaning your own bedroom and kitchen.
Communal areas which includes floor and work surfaces are cleaned weekly.
Cleaning is not provided in self-contained flats.
Clothing Bank
The British Heart Foundation have two clothing banks within the Student Village outside Block G and at the entrance to the Student Village.
Emergency Phones
An emergency telephone is located outside the Residential Services Office. This phone links directly to security 24 hours per day.
Ensuites
Please only dispose of toilet paper in the WC. Other items should be disposed of appropriately.
Facilities Manager
Robert Faras is the Facilities Manager for Dalriada Village and is based in the Residential Services Office and is responsible for all matters relating to repairs, maintenance and housekeeping.
The office can be found on the ground floor of Block 7, adjacent to the village shop.
He will normally be available during office hours which are 9.00am until 4.30pm (Mon - Thu) and 9.00am to 3:30pm (Fri) to deal with maintenance requests, mail, housekeeping and lost keys.

Fire Alarm
On hearing an alarm (continuous sounding for more than 30 seconds), you should follow the “Fire/ Emergency Procedure” as set out on the blue and white notice in your apartment.
If you encounter a fire, no matter how small, you should also follow this procedure.
The alarms are routinely tested every Friday around 1.10pm.
Fire Alarm – Prevent False Alarms
After 12 midnight the Northern Ireland Fire Authority will attend every fire alarm activation.
Do not use aerosols such as hairspray or deodorant near smoke detectors.
Ventilate the room when showering to allow the steam to exit and use the extractor fan.
Never leave cooking unattended.
Smoking is not permitted within any University building.
First Aid
The University Security team are all First Aid trained and can be contacted on +4402870123456.
For emergencies, please call 999.
All injuries and incidents must be reported to Residential Services staff.
Heating
Heating and Hot water
A timer operates the heating and hot water.
Monday to Sunday, 6.00am-9.00am, 12:00pm - 2:00pm & 5.00pm-10.00pm
The heating times may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. Please turn off any unwanted lights, radiators, etc. to conserve energy.
Kitchen Cupboards
Keys are available upon request however we recommend that you get to know your flat mates before requesting a cupboard key.
Laundry
The laundry room is equipped with washing machines and tumble dryers and is open seven days a week from 8.00am to 11.00pm.
You can book online at www.circuit.co.uk or use a top up card which are available at the ResLife Office.
Laundry must not be dried within accommodation units to avoid condensation leading to damp and mould growth in the buildings.
Maintenance
Please note that appointments cannot be made for maintenance work and access to your room may be required to facilitate repairs and maintenance when you are absent.
If any repairs are required, please report them as follows:
Please note any emergency repairs such as flooding or utility loss such as water or full electricity outage should be reported immediately to the ResLife team.
If any standard repairs are required in your accommodation please fill in a fault report form online so we can fix it or contact Alan in the Facilities Office..
ResLife will endeavour to complete emergency repairs within 0-24 hours, urgent repairs within 5 days and routine repairs within 15 days. You will be informed of any delays to this anticipated response. Please note that appointments cannot be made for maintenance works and access to your room may be required to facilitate repairs and maintenance in your absence.
If you are present, please make a point of checking the ID of all strangers who call at your door. All staff will have ID
Police
For non-emergencies please contact the police on 101 or for emergencies 999.
Pool Table
Located between Blocks 14 and 16 the pool table is for residents use. The balls and cues can be collected from the Residential Services Office free of charge.

The University closes over the Christmas period, usually on the 20th December until 2nd January 2024 and at Easter from 1st April until 8th April 2024 during which times post is not delivered into the University.

ResLife Night Assistants (NA)
Your ResLife Night assistant are Sam Smyth and Steve Fegan, they are based at the Residential Services Office from 9:30pm to 8:00am every night to assist with all aspects of Health, Safety and Security.
They have a responsibility to uphold the Rules of Residence and report any breaches.

The Residential Services Office is located in Block 5, Dalriada Student Village. The office staff are available from 9:30am to 4:30pm (Mon - Thu) and from 9:30am to 3:30pm (Fri).

Room Access
From time to time, we will require access to your bedroom & or apartment for routine maintenance checks.
You will be given 7 days’ notice but in the event of an emergency we may need to access your room without notice.
You do not need to be there but of course can be if you wish.
Rubbish/Sustainability
The University promotes environmental sustainability and Residents are encouraged to recycle and reuse to prevent unnecessary items going to landfill. Residential Services work with the Students Union and the Estates team to promote sustainability and identify Sustainability Champions.
Please make sure that all your kitchen rubbish is placed in black bin bags.
All rubbish should be removed by residents to the bin stores, which are clearly visible in the residential areas. Always place your rubbish in a bin - not on the ground

SafeZone App
Ulster University has teamed up with technology firm CriticalArc to provide SafeZone, a free app for students and staff that connects you to the University security team if you ever need urgent help, first aid or if you have an emergency while on campus.
Security
Please make sure you close doors firmly behind you and do not let strangers into the accommodation.
Remember to keep your keys with you at all times and never give them to another person.
Night Assistant staff patrol the residences from the Residential Services Office between 10.00pm and 8am Sunday to Thursday morning.

Shopping
Day Today Shop is also located at Block 7 it stocks a wide range of groceries, stationery and other essentials at student-friendly prices.
There are local grocery shops in Whiteabbey & Monkstown villages, a 15 minute walk away.
There are big supermarkets In Carrickfergus or Abbeycentre a short taxi ride away.
Snow & Ice Clearance Response
During icy periods highlighted by weather reports from Northern Ireland MET Office by post code, we will treat all hard-surfaced areas such as roadways, car-parks, access and exit routes, pedestrian areas, footpaths and doorways.
When salting/gritting has been determined as being required, salting/gritting operations will take place between the hours of 12.00am (Midnight) and 7.00am. This will operate for normal University activities, 7 days a week.

WIFI and Broadband
Your residential fees include WIFI and broadband access direct to your study bedroom.
A cable should be available in your room already; if not just contact Residential Services or your RA.
Please be aware that all broadband ports are centrally monitored, and if you breach the University’s Acceptable Use Policy, you may face disciplinary charges.
